Will I need a seperate visa to work if i am on my husbands oman visa?
Posted by: admin in Oman QuestionsWe are relocating to Dibba soon and my husband will get sponsorship through Oman. The plan is for me and my children to go onto his sponsorship. Will I be able to get work whilst on his visa? I know with the rest of the UAE I would be able to subject to getting a labour card. Is it the same for Oman

Most islamic countries prohibit wives from working, and Oman may be one of them. Plus the terms of employment and visa sponsorship also affect your ability to obtain permission to work and appropriate visa.
Your husband will have to check with his employer/visa sponsor to see if there are any restrictions in the employment contract or the employment visa terms, then see if you can obtain permission to work on a dependent visa, or whether you would have to obtain your own visa. If you have to obtain your own visa, you have to find your own employer to sponsor your work visa, so if you do not have appropriate skills and experience, you have a problem finding a job – jobs are scarce everywhere.

You need to have a separate work permit and visa to work in Oman and cannot work on your husband’s visa. Getting a job there is difficult for an expat due to Omanisation requirement and unless you have specialised skills you may not get a job of your liking.
Dont go by the rant of the other guy about Islamic country etc. Oman is a very open country and has no restrictions on expats or ladies or stop them from working or put any restrictions on their cloths
