What if Bahrain, Yeman, Tunisa, Egypt, Oman, and the rest dont turn out to be Democracies?

Will you still be proud of the protests?
Will you care that their free determination leads to terrorism or more radical jihad?
Will you hold solidarity with them when your paying 8 dollars a gallon of gas?
How can a revolution be a “success” until you have seen the end?
Egypt’s revolt is nothing yet, its only just begin, the end may be a twist ending
Right now its a military dictatorship, nothing to be happy about

Egypt and Bahrain both revolted against oppressive governments we supported. I have serious doubts that whatever replaces them will be U.S. friendly unless we have a heavy hand in forming their next government.

Do you believe that all me are created equal or not? I don’t shun our values for expedience and fear.
If the French felt the same way we’d still be in the British Empire.
We can’t keep prop up the bad guys forever, might as well be now.

The protesters have said they want democracy and they will protest until they get democracy.

Yeah, they could end up with worse leadership. Not like we started this or anything. it is was it is.
Bahrain is mostly Shiite (or is it Sunni?) and they will probably be in line with Iran once they take control. And they control the suez canal.

Egypt will most likely fall to the Muslim Brotherhood. This is not a good thing. These revolutions are breeding grounds for radical Islam.
Obama has also shown his lack of leadership during this time of turmoil. It’s a scary thing to have someone so weak at the helm when we need a strong international voice.

I’ll be proud of the protests as the protesters themselves were genuinely interested in peace and more civil rights.

But the West could help it out by speedily developing and implementing electrically powered vehicles. -We shouldn’t depend on the oil of those oppressive states even if we operate electric cars at a lost subsidized by the gov. (e.g. taxpayers).
-Leading countries should also stop selling weapons to any non 1st world country (Why being so selective? it’s bc these countries care about their prosperity and don’t necessarily want to waist their economies in stupid wars + our populations have a say and can influence the flow of politics. Rulers of barbaric countries on the other hand, don’t care and their people have no voice!)
-We shouldn’t sponsor countries that are aggressive in anyways (and whose politic isn’t bent on building peace)
-We should actively build education networks in poor countries and NOT send them money that only ends up in corrupted dignitaries hands)

Since the revolts were carried by populations, there’s a big chance that they’ll push for establishing democracies. And that even in spite of whoever was at the origin of the revolt, even if these were radical fanatics
However the pro-democracy populations need to act right away. If they wait for un-supportive forces to occupy positions in the government it’ll be very hard to start a new fight.
NextVic’s comment makes sense, but we shouldn’t forget that these pro-american governments were more interested in their own pockets and interests at the expense of the populations. Unimplementable was staggering, and social services minimal in spite of the millions of dollars of American and EU help. The folks were fighting against the regime’s corruption and not necessarily against the presidents.
Let’s hope someone smart and best-interests oriented gets to the power!

Sorry Nextvic
We do not support oppresive governments by carrying on international trade.
Except for a handfull of rougue nations we trade with every nation on earth.
Further more as a free country the Federal Government does not prevent companies and individuals from trading with who ever they chose.
We trade with China. That doesn’t mean we approve of their oppression or are somehow propping them up.
Stop twisting the truth.

Well, in that case nothing changed.
We got our freedom through revolt and revolution. now it’s their turn.
