At least two people are reported to have been killed in anti-government protests in Oman. It is alleged police fired rubber bullets at stone-throwing demonstrators; some of whom set fire to government buildings and cars. Witnesses say more than 2000 people gathered for a second day in the industrial town of Sohar, on the Gulf Arab sultanate’s northern coast. Protests also took place in the southern town of Salalah where a small number of demonstrators have camped out since Friday near the office of a provincial governor. … www.euronews.net

@airplanes1000 Sorry, but I have visited Oman/Muscat & my family have married into an Omani family, we were warmly welcomed every where we went.
Not all people are bad in the UK as USA. Our country’s welcome all foreign people of all religons. This world is here for us all to share & respect ! We should all live in Harmony & respect one another’s religon & belief’s.
Although I do agree Oman should stay free of certain tourists. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people

These guys are not thankful of their country and a wonderful leader Sultan Qaboos, they have. I wish and pray that every country should have a leader like him.
You talk about the salary and living? Go to Pakistan and India, and live there for a month, then you will realize what a peaceful life you are having.
This is US hidden agenda, to exploit Arab world to destabilize this region so they can improve their forsaken economy.!! Rethink of what you do and be thankful to Allah

@CreepyLizard
What is happening is the same as other countries.
The government “hires” some people to cause chaos so give the protesters a bad name.
It only fools stuiped people. The Sohari people got guns in their homes and if they want chaos, they can do it and know how to it!
But they are coming with a peaceful protest asking only for jobs and less corruption.
They LOVE the Sultan like everyone.
Where the F**k is the news?

@Xiahoud when you take into consideration that some protesters might have burned the hyper market, it makes it clear why did the police force acted violent just as much from their side too. Keep open to all possibilities. It could also be from an external force with the motive to cause havoc across the arabian peninsula, an unrealistic, irrational protest is hitting Qatar soon too
May 6th, 2011 at 6:13 am
@Xiahoud It doesn’t make sense, the people in Oman are great and friendly people, but individuals HAVE burned a hypermarket and you can see this from research and enough evidence but of course this does not reflect the whole Omani population as a whole, whether with or against the government. Would it be a “catastrophe” if it turns out to be that some of protesters have done it, too? or are you sending a threat?
May 6th, 2011 at 7:11 am
@Xiahoud A peaceful protest doesn’t include burning lulu hypermarket..
May 6th, 2011 at 8:11 am
We should all be working to make these revolutions non-violent.

????? ?????? ???? ?????? ?? ?????.
May 6th, 2011 at 9:44 am
This might be because of an old grudge people hold on the current ruling family of Oman because they are believed to not actually be originally omani.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:18 am
im an Omani but i live in Canada, and i m so embarrassed with the Omani people, Oman is a really Beautiful country, and those youth protesters are burning and damaging the cities, i under stand you they doing this, Because of those Big Fat Old ugly greedy ministers, my dad works for the government, and he tells me, Oman could be a much develop and richer if those ugly old ministers leave office, but not Qaboos, he is doing all the work to change Oman to a better place, but he is only one man.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:39 am
@203207ab no because the Omani government is actually working on the problem, well sultan qaboos is, and its not like they want sultan qaboos down of ruling Oman, the just want more jobs and all the old fat useless government ministers out, so the new generation can step in, and make a different, and thats the problem with the middle east, all the old leaders and government ministers are useless and greedy, i think Sultan Qaboos is the only leader that cares about is people. god bless Qaboos
May 6th, 2011 at 11:11 am
Whats Next after revolution if happens in middle east ??? It will be in the hands of fascist fundamentalist !!! Oman is the 22nd ranked peaceful country in the world and acquired a good growth in the time of Sultan Qaboos in all? the areas. The people should try to differentiate between the good and the bad… should not go beyond crowd.. all protest are not for the people. The words of P.J. Crowley says that… UNREST in the WORLD is inevitable for US and the RELIGIOUS FUNDAMENTALISTS.
