Well, 3 of them (Abu Musa and Greater and Lesser Tunbs) belong to the UAE and are occupied by Iran. They like to call it misunderstanding, but we call it occupation.
Abu Musa was placed under joint administration in a deal with Sharjah, now part of the UAE. Iranians have since taken control of all access to the strategic island and installed an airport and military base there.

@ H : I don’t wanna start an argument here , but can you provide me with some Links or any Proofs that Abu Musa and Greater and Lesser Tunbs belong to the UAE ? I don’t think it’s truth .

All the original residents of those islands were from Qasimi (Sharjah & Ras al Khaimah tribes), they were Arabs not Iranians. Some of their old buildings on Tunb island go back 300 years. There was no Iranian presence there AT ALL until Iran tricked Sharjah into signing that memorandum , which was to be a temporary arrangement, not an official treaty, as Sharjah did not have any army of its own , it was forced by the all powerful Shah of Iran to let some Iranian force be stationed there , despite it being Sharjah’s own teritory. They did not expect Iran to stab them in the back and take over the Island , after it has already taken most other islands from them. The original people of these islands had to move to UAE shore because Iranian army was making life difficult for them , even barring the weekly food supply boat from Sharjah from docking on the island. The people from Tunb were completely deported by Iran, after the Iranian troops killed 3 of the 6 Ras al Khaimah policemen there, and the other 3 died in unknown circumstances after Iranian military took them for questioning in Bandar Abbas. The Tunb natives now live in Ras al Khaimah. Iran attacked the island with 5000 troops supported by gun ships & helicopters against 700 civilians from UAE protected by only 6 RAK badged policemen whom the Iranians killed any way , the troops attacked the school & clinic as well , and the helicopters dropped propaganda leaflets ordering the residents to “cooperate with Royal Shahenshah Army” of Iran, this took place on the morning of November 30th 1971 just 2 days before the establishment of UAE federation (on December 2nd, but announced since a year before so Iran knew the date) .
People from Ras al Khaimah inhabited the island (and several others now in Iran) since the late 1700′s. Iran really can’t blame the English because this was even before the English fleet arrived in the gulf. For the Abu Musa island the original inhabitants were 500 , but the Iranians deported the Arab (non-Emirati ) school teachers who were sent by UAE to teach the kids and they also deported the Indian workers whom the Sharjah emirate employed to run the electric power station there.

@ H: And how are u planning to get them back? You don’t have the force, so it’s ours.
Iraq tried to occupy some parts of Iran and it did for a while, but in an 8 year war we got them back. UAE wants to try a war with Iran too? I don’t think so. Then people ask me why do u Persians hate Arabs so much? Well this is the reason H! Respect Iranians’ property.
