Post the departure of Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip, and as a continuation of the glorious 40th National Day celebrations, Muscat is currently hosting the “Oman World Fireworks Championship 2010″, said to be the world’s biggest fireworks championship ! Very fortunately for us, the venue of this mega world championship is the Al Qurum Natural Park, which is just across where we live ! So all we have to do is to get on to our terrace and we are treated to the best front-row, VIP seats available for this magnificent event ! In fact, the fireworks happen just in front of us !! We are indeed lucky to be living here — particularly at this time — as people from all over Oman are driving to Muscat to watch this incredible firework spectacle, and all we have to do to watch this explosion of a million sparkling stars as they light up the night sky, is to just get on to our terrace ! This firework championship started last evening and will continue on for 2 full weeks. The display will be between 8 — 8:30 every evening. Participating in this championship is the who’s who of world fireworks — the biggest and the best pyrotechnic companies have been shortlisted from over 50 representations and from that 10 were shortlisted and finally 6 were chosen based on their track record, experience and their history with fireworks. And this world’s best 6 pyrotechnic companies that will be displaying their repertoire of excellence are : Merlin from the UK …
