I’m asking because I’m a stamp collector and am not certain how to classify my stamp from Oman. Many dealers have them listed as part of the United Arab Emirates but I don’t think that’s right.

Oman is a neighboring country to United Arab Emirates. They are not the same country. Just like how Mexico and USA are neighboring countries – they share the same border.

UAE used to be part of Oman , historically speaking. The borders overlaps , so you will find dealers from both countries who maintain active outlets across the border. Some towns exist (split) on both side of the border. Some UAE territories are enclaves completely surrounded by Oman , and some Omani territories are enclaves completely surrounded by UAE.
