Is it possible to travel between UAE and Oman on a UAE drivers licence?
Posted by: admin in Oman QuestionsHi I am a European citizen but my passport is in the process of getting a visa for another country. I am due to go to Oman at the weekend by car. I have a photocopy of my passport and also a UAE drivers licence. Would this be ok?

Jamie I think you would need a Visa. Don’t go without any prep. They will hassel you at the border.

As an UAE resident you are allowed to drive a car with an UAE driver’s license – but to enter Oman you of course need your original passport and not just a copy.

The visa will be stamped at the border ON THE ORIGINAL PASSPORT , it can’t be on a photocopy passport.. Other than that just get short-term/visitor car insurance for Oman (you can get that done thru some UAE insurance offices). Or you can go by air and just rent a car in Oman, several airlines go direct from Dubai to Muscat & Salalah airports.
