I just know that there are not much cabs in Muscat and their fare is high compared to other Middle East countries. One of my colleques works and lives in Muscat and I know how hard it was for her to find an individual health insurance. She finally found one and it is really cheap, but does not cover much. There are mostly group insurances and if you are lucky, this will be provided by you employer.
In general, employees coming to the Middle East are negoating a “salary package” including housing, insurance, transportation and sometimes even school fees. How much you ca spend of OMR 1400 depends on your lifestyle. If you do not get housing allowance etc, it could get tide.
Take care and all the best.

The offer sounds OK if it includes housing and tuition allowances. If not, you will likely have difficulty saving money in Muscat.
