British passport holders can trip to Oman for a visa run. From Dubai go to Hatta. From Abu Dhabi go to Al Ayn. If you are on a visit visa to UAE you will get free entry into Oman. You can return same day. If you have a UAE residence visa there is a small charge for entering Oman, about 30 dhs. You can return as soon as your passport has the Oman visa entered in it. You simply reverse the process and obtain a new UAE entry stamp. One thing, if travelling by car you will need Oman insurance coverage.
