Can I visit Oman when I go to Dubai?

I am planning a trip to Dubai. I am a US citizen. I found out the oman requires a visa. But do they allow some type of cheaper one day visa or something. Just wanna visit for one day and not pay $175 for a visa.
Do you know the cost of this?

    Tourists arriving from Dubai to Oman bearing a tourist entrance visa or a stamp from Dubai are not required to obtain a separate visa for Oman provided they travel directly from Dubai to Oman.
