BNP Paribas Holds Annual Derivatives Conference in Muscat

BNP Paribas Middle East – Fixed Income conducted its Annual Derivatives Conference from 8th to 11th June 2006 at the Grand Hyatt Muscat, Oman.
With the regional markets becoming more and more sophisticated, Corporates look at different ways of minimizing costs and optimizing returns on investments and Derivatives could possibly become preferable instruments to do so.
The BNP Paribas and Fitch Ratings Group experts spoke at length on the advantages of derivative products at the Muscat Seminar. Other subjects including bond market trends, interest rate environment and the impact of the region market corrections were also covered at the seminar.
Ligia Torres, Head of European Corporate Group chaired the conference. There were several key topics and speakers. Amongst those who spoke were Fitch Ratings Managing Director, Andrew Steel, on the Middle East Corporate Bond Market Trends. Fabrice Famery, BNP Paribas Head of ECG Corporate Solutions Group, who presented Mergers and Acquisitions Risk Management, and Dominique Leca, BNP Paribas Head of Derivatives Marketing Group – ECG on Innovations in Interest Rate Structures. Finally Shiva Subramaniam, Regional Head of Fixed Income Sales, Middle East (ECG) presented benefits of Cross Border Leasing and relevance of TAX and Credit Derivatives in optimization finance.
The conference organized by Fatima Abul and her colleagues at the Middle East Fixed Income Group were delighted at the over-whelming response from the corporate clients from across the gulf region towards the event. Clients noted relevance of topics to the current boom and growth nature of the region while highlighting that the segments providing a good networking and idea exchange venue.
