My husband, who’s Christian, is on a business trip in the mid-east. It’s the second time he’s been there in the last month. In his free time he’s been sight-seeing and going to the beach. When he called this morning, he told me how kind the people are and how interesting the trip is.

I am Jewish. I asked my husband if I would be welcome there.. and he didn’t know. Would I?

This is a sensitive subject, and I appreciate your thoughts.

Yes, I actually think that’s one of the religions there.

Following the assassination of a Hamas leader, Dubai police will use voice and face profiling to detect Israelis arriving on foreign passports now. I don’t know if you are “just” jewish, what national you are or if you hold dual citizenship. Now travelers suspected of being Israeli will not be allowed into the UAE even if they arrive on another passport. The Emirates will deny entry to anyone suspected of having Israeli citizenship.

I don’t have any clue how this profiling works. A friend of mine (Vietnam/American mix and jewish) didn’t have any problems entering on an American passport. Shahar Peer was allowed to enter also and beside being jewish, she’s even an Israeli citizen.

I assume that you won’t have any problems holding an American (?) passport. No American passports were used by the Mossad agents entering the UAE on forged passports. In case you hold a british, irish, australian, french or german passport……….I don’t know.

Like you said already, it’s a sensitive subject right now.

Beside the “profiling”, please be assured that nobody in the UAE cares about your beliefs and I wish that you can join your husband and exercise Arab hospitality.

Please do not blame the UAE for taking these steps. It’s just a respond to Israel’s illegal activities in the UAE and “normal” people have to pay the price.

Take care and all the best.

@mottted: please name any Emiratis who strapped a bomb to their chest, and set in off in the middle of a group of innocent people, killing and wounding as many as possible. Bet you can’t. But guess what – I can give you prove of illegal settlements. Beside – this got nothing to do with the question asked anyway.
Thanks for being called an idiot. At least I have some manners not to do the same to you.

I just love the mix of answers you got on this one….especially all the bull about illegal Jewish activities. Somehow, it’s fine for someone to strap a bomb to their chest, and set in off in the middle of a group of innocent people, killing and wounding as many as possible….but illegal to build a house in a settlement!

Shame on you folks! Where were you and your bleeding hearts when Israel was being attacked by Arab countries in The 1967 Six Day War and The Yon Kippur War of 1973…but of course, that was OK. But, it amazing how attitudes turned to “poor little us, we are getting picked on by the big bad Jews” when the Arab countries got their butts kicked…and in one war, just 6 days! And, please…no bs about the Arabs being there first…Israel existed hundreds of years before Mohammad was even born. Every country since the beginning of time, that has ever won a war, has kept territory…the Romans, the Greeks, Great Britain, Spain…the U.S., all have.

Unfortunately Meredith, I don’t think it’s a matter of how welcome you might feel…I just wouldn’t trust them period…sorry about getting on my soapbox…I just had to respond to some of those idiot answers.

Meredith, ignore Shariq’s answer he has no idea what he’s talking about. What the UAE authorities are doing does not have to do with being Jewish per say as much as a way to verify you are not an Israeli Mossad agent or spy or whatever, and using another forged passport since Israel’s documents are not recognized by UAE. Just being an Israeli passport holder is not a big concern for them. The answer by H is well said , and that is all you want to know. The immigration does not care what religion you are.

  5. Yossi says:

    about dubai only..

    they welcome 4 jewish ,,,

Israeli no … not entrance with israeli passport

& if u have israeli stamp n ur passport not allow to enter to dubai

  6. trancinguy says:

If you have no things to hide like affiliation to Mosad / “israel” or harbor ill will like our pothead friend, then all is good.

  7. perfectly imperfect says:

well, unless you have an israeli passport, or have ever been to israel then no.
OFCOURSE! YOU WOULD BE WELCOME THERE.
you haven’t done anything to not be welcomed right??
Don’t sweat it unless you openly have a hatred towards arabs and muslims, then you’ll have a problem.

Have fun, dress modestly, enjoy the arabian sun, jew or christian or muslim we should all treat each other with respect agree ?
